Add-on Activities
There are many things you can do while traveling through India, Nepal, and Bhutan to add a little spice to your trip. All three destinations practice yoga and meditation in one form or another, as part of their Hindu or Buddhist cultures. And it is easy to find classes in both that can help you understand them more easily.
Nepal and Bhutan are also major tourist destinations for hiking in the Himalayas, a practice that is less popular for tourists traveling to India. With dozens of trekking trails in both Nepal and Bhutan, these two destinations are ideal for ardent trekkers.
Safar is are a popular activity in India, especially for wildlife such as Bengal tigers, elephants, and other amazing creatures. Nepal also has some good places for a safari through the jungles, especially in lowland areas like the Chitwan National Park near the Indian border, which has Bengal tigers, elephants, rhinos, and crocodiles.
All three destinations are also great for some of the more spectacular adventure sports, including mountain biking, white water rafting, parascending, and other amazing activities. Nepal, however, is the best of the three for adventurous activities, with better rivers for rafting, and one of the highest bungee jumps in the world.
Whatever your interests, we can help with deciding what to do and where to go on your tour. Just let us know what you are looking for, and we can recommend the best places for your favorite activities based on the country you will be in.
Food and Drinks
Nepal and India have very similar cuisines, and the cuisine of Nepal has been heavily influenced by India over the centuries, to become what it is today. Heavy use of vegetables and spices are prevalent in both cuisines, with normal boiled rice being the staple of both the Indian and Nepali diets. There has been some influence on several types of Nepali dishes from China, which has resulted in more use of noodles than in India, where lentils and pulses are more common than in Nepal. And the major Hindu religion in Nepal, as in India, has had a heavy influence on certain foods that can or cannot be eaten.
In Bhutan, the cuisine has had some influence from both India and China, as well as being influenced mainly by the climate and landscape. Buckwheat, red rice, and maize are main constituents of the Bhutanese diet due to being hardy enough to be grown well at higher altitudes. And the heavy use of chilies, which can be found in almost every dish, has made the Bhutanese cuisine one of the most unique and unusual in Asia.
